CRITERIA FOR ELIGIBILITY

NOTE: Although 'The Samui Clinic' welcomes patients with the under mentioned
minimum requirements. We do view and assess all patients on an individual basis.

The minimum requirement under our own assessment would be a letter supporting surgery by a psychiatrist and a full understanding of the irreversible nature of the surgical procedure being requested.

(The following requirements are not law)

Live for at least one year full-time in the new gender role Known as (RLT) real life training.

Engage in hormone therapy for at least one year (this can be simultaneous with the full-time experience).

Gain recommendation by a psychologist, clinical behaviour scientist or an appropriate therapist after an series of sessions which should last a minimum of six months.

Gain a recommendation of a psychiatrist that surgery is not contrary to the Mental Health of the patient.

Note: It is the responsibility of the patient to see that the
professional making the recommendation has the qualification
as required and that they are clearly stated in the recommendation.

At 'The Samui Clinic' the criteria for qualification responsible and flexible depending on the clinic and surgeons assessment on a case by case basis. We only need to know that you have fully thought out the consequences of having this irreversible operation done and that you have your life in order for your return to your own country after surgery. You must be aware that this operation is irreversible and you will never be able to return to the way you are - so be absolutely sure that this operation is for you..
